3rd Annual Waterford Film Festival 6-8th of November

Dear All,

Welcome to the 3rd Annual Waterford Film Festival. Before I get into the details of this year’s event I would like to make a statement. For the past 2 years the festival has had many successes. We have received over 500 films from around the world and have screened over 150 of these films. Both year’s up to 80 % of filmmakers have attended the festival some from as far as the U.S. and Canada. All have been hugely complementary about their experience.

We have in the past screened the films between 3-5 days and between 3-4 venues and the festival has been open to all kinds of films but over the past two year’s the festival has been running on a very tight budget and a small amount of human resources, as you can imagine it has been very difficult putting this festival together and running it.

We have received great support from local business and sponsors, in addition to core funding from Waterford City Council and Failte Ireland but unfortunately due to lack of funds and overall small amount of ticket sales, the festival has struggled to cover its running costs and due to the current economic climate our funding is being reduced. This does not make us unique amongst other festivals or art organisations but as a young event the effects are more pronounced. Therefore this year we have to scale back the festival but we plan to put on a hugely varied program which I trust will both entertain and stimulate all who attend as well as providing much needed exposure for filmmakers local, national and international.

Submission Fees:

Feature Films : 20 Euros early deadline July 31st
25 euros late deadline September 2nd
Short Films : 10 euros early deadline July 31st
15 euros late deadline September 7th
Screenplay competition: 10 Euros entry fee : Deadline August 17th

NO Films or Screenplays will be accepted after the dates mentioned above.
