Welcome to the 5th Annual Waterford Film Festival
The festival will take place from the 4th to the 6th of November 2011.
Following on from the huge success of the consolidation of the Festival into one venue in 2010, all screenings will again take place in the Greyfriars Municipal Art Gallery Waterford.
Over the last few years of the Festival it has been noticeable from audience response that the most popular part of the festival was the Short Film Programme.
The chance to see short films in a cinema-style setting rarely occurs and should be savoured when it does.
Therefore, the organisers have this year decided to focus the festival exclusively on short films.
Five short film programmes featuring a total of 33 films will screen over Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th November climaxing with the presentation of the Waterford City Council Award for Best Short Film on Sunday night. Sunday night will also see the presentation of the Best Screenplay award for unmade short films.
Included in the programme are dramas, comedies, love stories, documentaries, sci-fi and horror, from professional and student filmmakers, from Ireland and abroad. A huge variety of talent will be on display is this unique celebration of the art of the short film.
A brief trailer of the films included can be seen on the festival's facebook page. All programmes cost €5 with a season ticket being available for €20.
On Friday night the 4th of November the festival launch will take place in Greyfriars Art Gallery at 8.00pm with a special screening (out of competition) of The Boogeyman - a new Irish adaptation of the classic Stephen King short story (30 mins) followed by a reception. Admission is free of charge.
All of us here at the Waterford Film Festival look forward to meeting all the filmmakers and film buffs in November!
