Post-Festival report.
Hi All,
Well the curtain has closed on the 1st Annual Waterford Film Festival and what a year it has been. The festival was very successful for the 1st year with 80% of the filmmakers attending the festival over the 3 days and 4 nights. Filmmakers came from around Ireland, U.K., Spain and New York. Everyone who came had a fantastic time and the feedback from people has being great.
Below is just part of many e-mails I received:
“I just wanted to say a sincere thank-you and congratulations on a
superb film festival. Over the course of 4 days I travelled across the
world, visited noble cultures, entered peoples dignified lives and
experiences and now understand differently so many things I took for granted.
The medium of film is crucial to the way we as a society understand
life and the world. It challenges us to think outside the box, live
outside the fishbowl and simply to allow more people to be noble. Otherwise
there is a danger that Ireland will become a bland, predictable and
ultimately boring place to live.”
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who made it possible, my sponsors and the volunteers and the people who came out and supported the festival and the filmmakers for sending their excellent films and for attending the festival. Thank you all so much, and I would like to say congratulations to all the winners.
