Waterford City is richer in terms of its medieval city walls than any other Irish City. The fortifications date from the Viking and Anglo Norman Period and there are six towers and long stretches of wall still standing.
As an alternative afternoon in County Waterford: Travelling at 15km per hour visitors can visit the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway narrow gauge railway line and take in panoramic views of the River Suir, rolling farmland and mountains.
