Waterford - Ireland's Oldest City

Waterford City, South East IrelandWaterford City, steeped in history, heritage and culture, represents a unique blend of modern shopping centres, traditional pubs and highly acclaimed gourmet restaurants.

Waterford City is richer in terms of its medieval city walls than any other Irish City.

The fortifications date from the Viking and Anglo-Norman Period and there are six towers with long stretches of wall still standing.

Greyfriars Municipal Art Gallery is located at the heart of the original viking area of the city.

As an alternative afternoon in County Waterford: Travelling at 15km per hour visitors can visit the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway narrow gauge railway line and take in panoramic views of the River Suir, rolling farmland and mountains.
